What:   Run from Oegon City to Edgefield

When:  Tuesday, Aug 29 – Meet at 9:00 am - Leave at  9:30 am

Where:  End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, 1726 Washington St, Oregon City

Oregon City to Edgefield - There are two ways to go there, the boring, clogged up freeways or a nice, peaceful, scenic, run thought the country with more than a few twisties before the rain sets in.  It’s fairly long for a Zoomer, 65 miles or so, but lots of great views.  Meet at End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, 1726 Washington St, Oregon City.  There is coffee right across the street in the Amtrak station.  From there we will wander the back roads out to Estacada, Sandy, Bull Run (where Portland gets its drinking water), Corbett, Vista House for a nice view of the Gorge, then lunch at the Edgefield County Poor Farm.  (I looked at Multnomah Falls for lunch, but with lines of cars over a quarter mile long to get in the parking lot, decided we can get that kind of drive any time we want closer to home.)  There will be a break about mile 26 at Eagle Fern Park and there are facilities at Vista House.

If you are interested in climbing Angel’s Rest after lunch, bring your hiking boots.  It’s an 8-mile round trip hike up to a sheer cliff overlooking the Gorge, the Vista House views on steroids.  Not that difficult, one of the most spectacular views anywhere.

RSVPs are a must for ALL events. Register here on the event page.
