Camp Adair was a major World War II U.S. Army training base located just north of Corvallis, Oregon. At its peak, it was so large and heavily populated that it effectively became the second-largest city in Oregon, housing around 40,000 soldiers and staff. Late in World War II, it also held a small number of German POWs. Today, little remains of Camp Adair, but a small memorial garden still stands and is well worth a visit. It is a meaningful place to honor veterans.
In addition to visiting the memorial garden on our Zoomer’s Camp Adair Run, we will visit a covered bridge in Kings Valley and cross the Willamette River on the Buena Vista Ferry. The run will conclude with lunch at the Stone Front Tavern in Salem.
The total route is 111 miles. A run sheet will be available by August 1st. Here is a Goggle Map of the run. The run date will be rescheduled if there is adverse weather.
