About this event
Join us for a scenic run along the backroads of the Willamette Valley leading to a Heritage Site, including a crossing of a covered bridge.
The Thompson’s Mill Heritage Site holds the oldest standing water-powered grain mill in Oregon, and its turbines can be seen in action on guided tours. A water right that predates statehood produces the water flow that still runs the milling machines for demonstrations today.
Tours are done on demand on Saturdays, so we will be able to see the mill in operation. There is no fee to visit the Heritage Site, but there is a donation station, so bring along a couple of dollars if you are so inclined. There will be time variations in how long participants want to spend at the mill and we may not all fit in one tour, so we will end our run at the mill. There is a small picnic area, so feel free to bring your lunch.
