  • The back lot of Interstate 5 Rest Area at exit 283

This is not a Mt Hood Miata Club event. It is put on by Cascade Sports Car Club.

Hello rallyists and fellow driving enthusiasts. Thank you for your patience as the Cascade Sports Car Club team bringing you the Mountains to the Sea Rally 2017 has been finalizing arrangements. At this time, almost all of the details are known. Bruce Tabor and Randy Hale have designed a nice driving route from Wilsonville  to Newport, OR on Sat 8/26/17.  Onsite registration begins at 9am, it is best to pre-register if possible.  There will be a traditional beach barbeque at the conclusion of the route while results are tallied and trophies awarded.  Bring a beach chair/blanket and log for the bonfire afterwards. (yes carry a small log in your Miata...)

This is an easy-to-follow TOURING RALLY to the coast on nice roads with hidden timing checkpoints along the way.

We’re happy to confirm that a Sunday morning ‘funkhana’ driving event is included for all competitors, volunteers, and workers at Newport High School at 9:30am.  This event is completely optional, but has proven to be a blast.

Rally Start Location: The back lot of Interstate 5 Rest Area at exit 283 – French Prairie south of Charbonneau/Wilsonville   (just south of Wilsonville), in the rest area  9:00am  Fist car out at 10:01am    You will be given detailed driving instructions, and average speeds to maintain,  and cars leave at 1 minute intervals.  Great fun on a summer day.

End Location: South Beach State Park, on the Pacific Ocean – Newport, Oregon. Just south of Yaquina Bay Bridge on US 101.   Approx 5:30pm  We recommend you book a room in Newport and STAY for the funkhana on Sunday morning.   A BBQ dinner on the beach is INCLUDED in your entry fee of $55   Some beverages provided, but bring the drink of your choice.

Sunday Aug 27th: Funkhana/Dumb Car Tricks Competition: Newport High School  (free to watch or participate).  Formula Finesse, driving while blindfolded,  gymkhana type stuff at LOW speed.
