More Topless Sun Run

ORGANIZER: Daniel & Diane VanGundy

WHERE: Kelowna BC - host hotel for Topless Sun Run

WHEN: TBD

DETAILS:  This is the return from Kelowna after Topless Sun Run.  The Okanagan MC has departure runs North and South and VanGundys may change the route after reviewing their plans.  This is preliminary!  BASIC info to give people an idea of what we are going to do.  More info may follow later from run organizer.

Day 1 - Sunday, May 26- Depart Kelowna on Hwy 97 towards Vernon.  Take BC Hwy 6 to Shuswap Falls (photo op-rest stop) via Lavington and Lumby.  Continue on to Fauquier where we take a short FREE ferry ride across lake and continue on BC hwy 6 to Nelson.  The day 1 drive will be approx. 270-290 miles and 6-7 hours.

Spend the night in Nelson.  Run organizer has reservations at the Hume Hotel Hume.  Choose a hotel and make reservations on your own.  Lunches and dinners will be planned on the fly.

Day 2 - Monday, May 27- Leave Nelson and drive BC hwy 3a to Balfour Terminal and take FREE ferry across lake to Kootenay Bay.  This is part of the International Selkirk Loop.  Continue South on 3a towards Wynndel and then West on Hwy 3 to Hwy 6 and South to Nelway.  Cross border (becomes hwy 31) heading South to Metaline Falls.  Hwy 31 becomes hwy 20 somewhere in here and continue on to Newport WA.  Take Hwy 41 South towards Rathdrum and continue on to Spokane Valley.  Approx 250 miles.

Spend the night in Spokane Valley.  Run organizer has reservations at the La Quinta Inn LA.  Choose a hotel and make reservations on your own.  Lunches and dinners will be planned on the fly.

Day 3 - Tuesday - May 28- Trip home from Spokane is on your own.  I would recommend Palouse Falls SP.  The last couple of miles is hard pack gravel and sort of washboardy but the falls are quite spectacular.

***
